1858
Engenho São Miguel (São Miguel
Sugar Mill) was founded in
Quissamã, upstate Rio de Janeiro
1877
It was one of the Sete Engenhos
(Seven Mills) which came
together to form the first Central
Mill of Brazil.
2002
The Central Mill was closed due
to the sugarcane crisis.
2010
In 2010, Haroldo Carneiro da
Silva reopened the Engenho São
Miguel, adding modern and
sustainable production
techniques to the traditional
sugarcane handling.

IMPERIAL
History is part of Engenho São Miguel’s DNA.
Its founder, Haroldo Carneiro da Silva, descends from the rst inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro, as proved by certi cates from the Brazilian College of
Genealogy.
To celebrate Rio’s 450th anniversary, Engenho São Miguel decides to launch an exclusive product: Sete Engenhos Imperial, a special edition. In order to surprise your palate, the Sete Engenhos Imperial Cachaça will debut a unique blend, kept in wood barrels of American oak, cherry tree, balsam and amendoim-bravo (Pterogynenitens), with a limited edition of 450 bottles only.
